Supposedly, eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is this first sin. It had God's first and original creations cast out of a paradise of sorts. But i suppose it could be argued that murder is the first.

Catholics believe that babies are born with original sin. That is why they baptize babies so young to cleanse them from it so if they die young, they will make it into heaven.

So, in birthing the babies, it is seen as bloodshed. Perhaps, too, why it is commonly said to be the first murder. Within the blood of man is DNA. The key to knowledge (on many levels). The knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life are, or rather, can be quite complex and symbolic of many things. From geneological lineage to an unseen order of things, and yet a great many things in between, below, above, and beyond. With none of the interpretations being necessarily wrong in and of themselves.

To be quite honest....I have no clue! I looked to Catholicism when I had no idea where life was taking me even though I don't believe in that particular version of God, <----polytheist, and I started going to a Catholic church around February with my friend and her family and of all the things that stuck with my Lent was the biggest. Its almost a purification type of thing for me.
