Mum's a Catholic, dad's a Prodestant. I went to a Cacholic girl's school where we had Religious Instruction as a lesson at least once a day. One day after reading Genesis I asked:
"If God knows what we are all doing all the time, how come he couldn't look after Adam and Eve when there was just the two of them?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, God didn't know they had eaten the forbidden fruit. He had to ask them why they were hiding in the bushes. There was just the two of them then and there are millions of people now. I don't get it."
My parents were kindly asked if I could be relocated to another school.
It's a very insecure God who says "Worship me or else.", and as for His army of angels - very dangerous race of immortal androgenous creatures who when told to destroy a town or city will kill every man, woman, child, animal, bird in the sky, and bug on the ground without a second thought.
You know how there was a war in Heaven, ever wondered what two immortal armies, each armed with the power of a God, could actually do to each other?
It never did feel right.
If all God wanted (and I'm approaching this from a purely speculative view) was total and abject obedience, then he wouldn't have created Man. He already had the Seraphim for that. And (If the Bible is to be believed)there were design faults there. Having no freewill, all they could do, was "The Will of God". And that's all very well, but you might as well just do it yourself.
So he had to build in some faculty that allowed them to know just what that was. Unfortunately, what he used to engineer this, developed into Hubris. The War in Heaven, against a prideful Lucifer, and a full third of the Seraphim was a direct consequence of The Word of God.
The fact he created Man at all after that suggests that this was a consequence he had not considered when making the Seraphim. Therefore, he is not "All knowing" at all, or he would have created Man first.
Freewill means that we can choose our actions, according to whatever motivates us. That's a given. But we also have to accept that there are consequences to our actions. This means that we have been created, by a God who upon finding out he'd made a glaring flaw in his last creation, then makes adjustments to his next creation that compensate for his mistake.
So why would this creative, and intelligent Creator now demand that we spend so much time on our knees, either in worship, or supplication? Seraphim could do that, if that's what he wants.
So why? What possible benefits are there in living like that? Or is it some kind of lesson? If so, what is it supposed to teach us?
