Who are your patron Gods?
« on: August 07, 2011, 03:17:39 PM »

I felt that I'd never need any 'idols' patron gods, or any names I'd prefer to call upon but lately I've decided to become a follower of Pan & The Morrigan. As I'm from Irish heritage, and have always felt a affinity towards Greek mythology.

So how about you?

The Tripal Goddess Dianna,Selene, and Hecate. The God I do not name. Sometimes I simply
refer to them as the Lord and the Lady or the Divine.

I do like Lord and Lady, Father Time and Mother Earth are my most common ones, but when I feel the need to have a specific need attended to I like Athena and Bes. They suit me just fine :)

Right now, none.

Back in the day I used to call on the intercession of many different Saints:

St. Thomas Aquinas (for help in my studies in seminary)
St. Peter (as the first Pope)
St. Michael the Archangel (to defend against evil)

Those were the three main Saints.  At other times, I'd throw in St. Benedict (the patron of were I went to school) and St. Cecilia (patroness of musicians).

There are no "gods" just guides to aide you on your path.
They don't require worship. They don't ask for it and don't acknowledge it when given.

All things are the potential or the expression of the one source, the energy that IS this universe. We are energy and we are all connected, all one, we are the one, WE are god.

what prev. poster said(sort of).  I am a panentheist and believe in the Great Creator, the All, but I realize I am the intercessor for my own life, hence witchcraft, eh? ;)  Panentheism=God is more than the sum and total of everything that makes up God.  Synergy.

I'm not sure what you mean by patron god?

Ever since I was little I have had an affinity towards Egypt- it fascinated me the pharaohs, the monuments, etc there was something about that land and it's ways that attracted to me. So for me I feel the call of Isis, Osiris, and Horus. I will also on occasion if I have certain needs will appeal to other mainly Thoth and Anubis.

I find my path changing of late and it worries me. I find myself turning more towards witchcraft than Wicca and Wicca is my love. At times I am scared of leaving too much behind. It doesn't mean I no longer believe. Things are changing and it leaves me unsettled.

I read some place a while back that Isis is not an old Goddess of Egypt. Rather her roots go back to Nubia, a nation that existed before Egypt became a strong nation.
And Isis is an English transaltion of the Greek translation of Esat (pronounced EE SA)

M....We all go through phases. We doubt either some or all of what it is we think we believe. From what I've seen in the past, it always seems to happen around late fall and winter months.
Personally, I think it may be that as the weather chills off, we spend less time out side. Less direct connection with nature.
When was the last time you went bare foot in the yard?
Take some time for your self. Go for a walk in the woods, sit by a tree or flowing water, and just enjoy the place you're at.

Marisol , what about changing your path worries you , after all you can be Wiccan and still practice Witchcraft . A lot of Witch are also Wiccan , most of those I know are ; they do go hand in hand . It goes like this -Pagans are the people - Wiccan is the religion and Witchcraft is the work that binds the whole into the Trinity. Just like Maiden, Mother , Crone . Have no worry when the three are joined then one become whole. Try it Marisol you'll be amazed.

The Slavic pantheon. Veles and Mokosh in particular, and possibly Stribog.
