I believe that all Athame (the plural, not the singular) are daggers, but a dagger isn't necessarily an Athame.

What he said was that he replaced his Athame with a dagger (which I took to mean that he is using a generic dagger as that tool, instead of a fancy or elaborate Wicca-store-purchased "Athame")

Your opinions would be most welcome here folks;

I used to work in a major museum and during my time there, a couple of ancient swords were to be disposed off. The way this is done is to basically chop them up into pieces and get rid. I managed to fall heir to some of the shards with the intention of making a bushcraft knife or two out of them. It came to me that these might make good athame and boline knives however and I've been pondering this quite a bit. I am concerned with one thing though and would ask opinions. These are VERY old shards and theres no way of knowing how they were used in the past. I am therefore concerned about negative energy in them and how would be the best way to purify them for their new purpose.

Ideas, opinions, or advice would be most welcome if you would?
