  • Don't worry; it only seems kinky the first time.

Maybe both.
Look what I have just been "Invited to take part in"

http://goddesssoulspa.eventbrite.com/

**Shudders**

I've no idea who they are or where they got my email address from btw....it ought to have gone to spam.

I can't work out if I am more appalled, disgusted, contemptuous, chagrined or ruefully amused by it.

But at any rate it's just so wrong on so many different levels I felt the need to share it and to ask.....what obscenely exploitative events/products have you been invited to take part in, paganistically speaking?

And how did you respond? I'm still thinking about quite what's an appropriate next move on my part towards this apart from marking it as spam and hoping I never hear from them again.

It's as slick as pigshit. The more I look at it the angrier I get.

Charlatans...$225?? wtf?

That's a real issue here. Wicca and to some extent paganism seems to be utterly the stamping grounds of middle class designer hippie new age guru seekers. Byron Bay Barons and Baronesses. All the gear and no idea.

There are so few people worth communicating with in the community. It's depressing as all buggery.

You must belong to some group that tracks your email addie and who makes that list available to other members.
IE: I belong to the Chamber of Commerce and listed under my business addie. So, I get emails from all over hells half acres offering me new products geared for my business.

The only oneI can think of is a yuppie hippie commune I went to a (really bad) retreat at a few months ago. This has them and their cronies all over it. I was marketed up the ring gear the whole weekend and left a day early in a huff.

If it wasn't so expensive, you could have gone and picked their teachings and methods to pieces in an embarrassingly public way... now that would have been funny.

I cracked at their "retreat" and did just that. Finally one of the group leaders said "If you're not receiving anything positive from the experience possibly you might like to leave."....I said I'd be delighted to love...give us a lift to the station then will you?

If I'd had a companion it would have been piss funny, but I was there all alone. It had been my first break away for "me" time in about 10 years doing something I wanted to do....and I was surrounded by a wankfest the dimensions of which boggled the mind.

They just about ran to get the car keys...lmao...

The car btw was a brand new SAAB....GTFO bitch!

LMAO ........ Fiona Horne has em' beat five ways from the origin.

http://www.fionahorne.com/spell-book/pages/about.html

Excerpt:

In a similar vein, Fiona released her Wikid Witch Kit with Australian company Stuf at the same time. Packaged in a funky lunch box, it contained a candle, magickal lotion and bath salts, cord, talisman as well as CD recorded by Fiona, guiding 'wikid witches' through a ritual. The kit is designed to give budding teen witches a kick start in the right direction, allowing them to interact with other Wikid Witches on an exclusive web site.

 Precious!

Even better ...... her birth control spell for young teenage (girl) witches headed out for a night on the prowl.  ::)

Breaking news: Religion attracts charlatans and gullible people.

Religious people and their money are soon parted.

Wrap your head around this: If there were a lot of wiccans, there would be wiccan megachurches. It would look like this:

                    Blessed be!
          /         /           |          \        \

                 An it harm none....

That is a very wealthy church-either Baptist or Christian?

The late, great George Carlin once said:  "Religion is like a lift in your shoe.  It helps you walk straight, until you don't need it anymore.  And we certainly shouldn't be going out and nailing lifts to the natives' feet"

THAT is a valuable truth.

For some, religion IS that lift.  Others need, or at least could use that lift.  Still others have no use for the lift at all, regardless of whether they need it or not.

I was not only never asked to ever again provide sound support for my local "Pagan Pride Day", but I was asked to not attend.  The comparison was made to "Jesus and the money-changers".  As long as it is a PUBLIC event, (and in the absence of a court order), I DO and WILL attend.  And I will continue to call BS when and where I see it.  But then, I would do the same for any of the "nice folks" in the pictures.
