I don't want to practice "blood magic" if there is such a thing. I merely plan to consecrate my wand with my blood. I think I've gathered enough intel on the subject to make a wise decision. Thanks everyone. :)

Wow, really? Lmao. I'll keep it away from my face as much as possible. Chestnut, I don't think is indigenous to this area. And I'd like to do all the work without machines or electricity. So it may be awhile before it's done. (poke myself in the eye........) Wow. Lol.

The pewter wand is mainly a keepsake. I have used it on special occas. though. I'm kinda scared
to use sharp knives, you would understand if you knew my track record. But you guys have renewed my desire to make my own wand. So we'll see what happens.

Here is something to think about , drift wood.....
 
1) it came from the earth = one element
 
2) if it fell in to the sea because of a fire = second element ....if not you can dry it over fire
 
3) water , sea or lake , river , pond etc. = third element
 
4) carried to where you found it by the action of air = fourth element
 
Think that would make one find wand for all occasion ?. An the shape of some of the roots are just beautiful .

I like the idea of using drift wood, OG.  And it's a great excuse to take a stroll along the beach this weekend (like I needed an excuse!).

And speaking of roots, at the place where I work they recently dug up a bed of juniper bushes for some reason.  When I pulled in to my parking space one day I found right in front of me a piece of root a little more than a foot long, perfectly tapered from about a half inch down to less than a quarter inch, and it has a slight bend to it.  I thought it would make a great wand so I brought it home and cleaned it up a little (didn't need much) and have used it a couple times in rituals I do.

One thing I like about it is it is covered with pointy nubs where the small roots grew.  The nubs aren't sharp like a rose bush but I definitely feel them if I hold it too tight.  They remind me to be careful with any magic work I do.
