Title: Root Chakra
Post by: Amber6 on February 17, 2011, 04:58:06 AM
I have a question, and if anyone has an answer I would really appreciate it.  I am having pain in my sciatic nerve, and I was wondering if anyone knows how to work on your root chakra, or any root chakra meditations.

If it was just my sciatic nerve that was bothering me I would agree, but I have other signs that my root chakra is not how I would like it to be.  Don't really understand the rest of what you said.  maybe you could clarify.  But thanks for responding.

My mom had sever issues with her sciatic.  Her Dr. sent her to yoga which in turn led her to the chakracise classes the yoga place she went too offered.

http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/openroot.php (http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/openroot.php)

Specific to opening the root chakra.  Their whole chakra section is actually quite informative as well.

http://chakracises.com/ (http://chakracises.com/)   ;D

This is actually quite a fun site with some really interesting excercises both mentally and physically.

I use chakra meditation beads.  You can see here http://www.birthbeads.com/ChakraBeadsMisc.html (http://www.birthbeads.com/ChakraBeadsMisc.html) where they sell them, however, I made mine and they are personalized for me.  I also used more beads per chakra, my strand has 13 beads per chakra.

If I can ever figure out how to upload pics to photobucket again, I can post a pic.

I personally feel (NOTE this is MY PERSONAL OPINION) that you should do a chakra meditation at least 3 times a week.  I do mine opposite my yoga days.

I also will, when working on a specific chakra, cover lamps and such with translucent cloth in that chakra's corresponding color.  I learned that in a color therapy class I took one time and it suprisingly works really well.

You spend your time bathed in the glow of that color.

PM is private message.

No worries, we all try to help out when we can, especially if it is something we have experience with.  I've run a few guided chakra meditations and know how hard it is to work on them until it becomes a habit.

If you do yoga, you might want to talk with your instructor and see if he/she has any characises  ;D

Finally got the picture to load up to photobucket.....

Each end has a dragonfly symbol on it.  The dragonfly is my left hand totem and one of my spirit guides as well....

My color correspondences are a bit off from what is the regular, I used what worked best for me.

Crown Chakra - clear quartz
Third Eye - amethyst
Throat - sodalite
Heart - adventurine and jade
Solar - tiger eye and silver
Sacral - pink quartz and lilac jade with silver - this is usually an orange stone - some will also use blue/green and my first strand used flourite
Root - hematite

The 13 stones per chakra is a personal thing for me,  it is strictly your choice how many stones, though I would say no less than 3.

Yeah, very cool.  I actually just made a mantra bead thing.  You know with the 108 beads with the large bead for the starting and stopping point.

Thank you!  It's old, I made it probably 8 years or so ago.

Those are awesome!  I have a set my sister got for me.  I may have to look into making my own.

It's really easy if you do decide to make on for yourself.  You can find a significant color or a significant stone for you and use that. :D

DM - I just read through this posting (I'm new here, so I'm taking in all I can).  I love what you did with the chakra beads.  Did you buy the stones with the holes already in them, or did you drill them yourself?

If you did it yourself, what method did you use?  I would love to make one of my own.

In love and light.....

The book wheels of life by anodea judith is verry good. It has physical exercises and pressure points for each chakra. I have no idea what happened to my copy of it tho.

Jadaja Talios , no disrespect intended ; but if you are not highly trained DO NOT mess with the pressure points on your body . The damage you can cause could be permanent . That's the biggest problem with self help book's . If you need help go to someone that is certified to do it.  Take it from someone who has permanent nerve damage.

None taken oldghost.  it's  true that you have to know what you're doing.  did you know that everyone uses certain pressuse points without reallizing it?   rubbing your temple, neck, or the back of the head for headaches and the bridge of the nose when your eyes are tired from overuse are just a few examples. Nobody thinks about it when they work those points, they just use them subconciously.  when i do head massages on other people for headaches i follow my instincts on where to rub but am concious that i am using various pressure points to help the person.  i have learned(to my dismay) that i have very little success in doing the same for my own migraines and regular headaches.  i understand that healers tend to have this problem. I find that it's hard to get the correct angles and pressure on my own pressure points but very easy on another person.

To easy a head ache, run the outside edge of your thumbs along either side of the spine, from the shoulders upward well into the hair, until you feel the skull. Only do this in an upward motion.
To do it on yourself, place your hands so your fingers are on top of your head and your thumbs facing down the neck. Using the thumb tip, "drag" upward.
Helps if you use some Deep Cold gel or some other similar product. We have a China Town here so I use Tiger Balm.

I have one for you all - a searing pain at the very top of the left scapula and a little laterally towards the spine . It's the result of an old stab wound, and once it starts up it just gets worse and worse. I've tried everything to ease it and I've been to several chiropractors etc with little result.

The pain can get so bad I can pass out with it. It actually feels like the knife is still there. The only remedy I have is to stop doing what I am doing and to lay down. That or lots of heavy codiene-based analgesia. This does ease the pain but it can take days to go away fully. It can then be completely gone for months at a time, then (for whatever reason) it will suddenly come back. Can't keep taking analgesia as I'm a heavy machinery operator.

Any thoughts?

I can understand that one. Tried to cut my thumb off with a skill saw, nicked the cartilage on the knuckle so I think I'm going to have permanent issues with it. I'm thinking you most likely had some nerve damage. Again, after 18 months, nerves don't heal anymore. Unless you have a fragment sitting in there causing irritation on occasion, I don't think much you can do.

Michelle did you ever get cheched 2 see if part of the knife tip was broken off in you? You xrays or cat scan-no mri cuz that could make things much worse or even kill you, electromagnets and steel knife point.

It's ok. It happened in prison. I spent a few days in hospital and they checked me over very carefully before I was put back in the yards. Prisoners are very well looked after. I guess everyone's afraid of legal action or something.

There, you see? The pain in my shoulder is really just a niggle when compared to something like lupus.

LynnW you're not bipolar or something are you? Just curious given your signature "I'm not crazy, Neither am I". You can tell me to sod off however as i am really quite nosey.

You can use any crystal you want to help aid different chakras. Red for root, Orange for Sacral, Yellow for Solar Plexus, Green for Heart, Aquablue for Throat, Indigo blue for Third Eye, and Violet for Crown. If you're having pain in any of these areas, you can place the according crystals (clear quartz can also replace any crystals you may be lacking) over the area and do breathing meditations. There are also different practices for building strength in certain areas, for instance this one is from a book I read on how to access your chakras, on the root chakra (I'm paraphrasing, but if you'd like a direct quote, I'll go ahead and grab the book for anyone who requests):

Find a comfortable, quiet place. Make sure it's warm, perhaps wrap yourself in a blanket or even lay in the sun by a window or outside. Curl into the fetal position, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Imagine you are in your mother's womb. Try to imagine the sounds, the muffled breathing, maybe even create a small heartbeat with a recording or the beat of a drum. You may put a red blanket or shirt over your eyes in order to fully create the effect. Stay like this for as long as you choose, preferably for at least ten minutes, and try to find the peace, quiet, and trust one feels in the mother's womb. A regular exercise like this can help heal and aid your root chakra and build trust in others and your environment.
