Hello All
« on: December 25, 2010, 06:50:24 PM »

Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie here, and this is my first stop on the boards. I am trying to fulfill an increasing curiosity of Wicca. I am looking for the foundations and the "why and how"...I am eager to learn and would very much appreciate direction on things to read and research. I am excited to begin, only I am unsure how.

Thanks for allowing me to begin my journey here.

Ah, the path is already strewn with thorns... point taken.

Thorns, shards of glass, briars, thumbtacks, red-hot coals, pit vipers...

All kidding aside, there are a lot of folks here who do offer good advice and helpful info from time to time, myself included.  Just that some of us (like me) are also bat-shit insane...   ;D

PS--If you have thick skin and a sense of humor, you'll do fine.

For the record, I was trying to make a joke. My name is curiosity . . . you referenced curiosity in your post . . . nevermind. But yeah, Snake-Man will feed you to the dogs, given 1/4th of a chance and a shot of whiskey.

HEY!!!  You're not supposed to divulge my secrets!!   :-p

This is the part where I bust in with a very witty one liner... only I've lost my script.

Thanks for the welcome!

Your kind offer is duly noted. I accept the fire's warmth, kindly refusing the fluffy marshmallow and the skewered dog.  ;)

*salutes* We're always happy to have another new person pull up a log around the fire. Marshmallow or hot dog?

Barbecued Rodent on a Stick??   :D

Now, now, I know it's your dream to be cremated when you die, but now is not the time. You'll scare the newbie.

No, no, no...MY dream when I die is to be stuffed and mounted, taxidermy-style, scowling and flicking everybody off, and prominently displayed in the living room.

Hello and Welcome, CuriousOne. If you haven't already been directed to do so, check out the stickied threads under Pagan Q&A, Wiccan Q&A, Forum Guidelines, Suggested Reading.....etc. If you can wade through all the thread derails, you should be able to find a lot of useful information here and people willing to help. Good luck!

Thank you all for the welcome!

I have started reading Eileen Holland's The Wicca Handbook, and have found a few more on the suggested reading list that sound interesting. I would like to learn more about hegewitches (sp?)... so if anyone has any insight on readings, etc, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks again. :)

A Hedgewitch is something you are not going to read about in a Wicca book. You'll have to look into Traditional Witchcraft for that. A Hedgewitch is a Witch who "crosses the hedge"/"travels" to other worlds. This is done via one of several different methods, including, but not limited to, drumming, dancing, ethenogens, deep meditation/trance.
