“For only with the eyes of the spirit can we see those golden threads which link us with all life everywhere.” Quote from Teachings of the Elect
Our spirit is more than just the thought-energy within us. It is actually linked to a universal network of energy. This network has been referred to by many names, including the Akashic Records, the Book of Life, the Universal Mind and the Field. It has been described as a universal filing system that has been recording every occurring thought, word and action since the beginning of time. Today, scientists might think of this record as the DNA of the universe. We can debate all day about how to describe it or what to call it, but what is most important is that we have the ability to connect to this source of Divine wisdom through the Spirit.
We all have our favorite ways to TALK to the Divine, but to access this universal web of knowledge we must develop our ability to LISTEN. Most traditions teach that this Divine wisdom is accessible by our subconscious mind, through a deep state of relaxation, meditation or dreams. Quiet your mind and listen for the voice of your Higher Self or Inner Spirit.
“And in sleep enter into the unknown realms …And you will bathe in the light of the stars … and cause a spring of knowledge to well up within you; …For I tell you truly, in the daylight hours are our feet on the ground and we have no wings with which to fly. But our spirits are not tied to the earth., and with the coming of night we overcome our attachment to the earth and join with that which is eternal.” From Book #4 The Teachings of the Elect
These ancient texts say that our spirit, or thought energy has no limits and is free to explore as we sleep. Throughout history people have allowed dreams to guide them. Some have foreseen events that have influenced their actions. Others have created machines, music or new and better ways to get something done, after the idea came to them in a dream. Our dreams can be powerful and those who choose to follow their dreams are usually happier and more successful in life than those who don’t.
“For your thoughts before sleep are as the bow of the skillful archer, that sends the arrow where he wills. Let your thoughts before sleep be with the stars.”
What we think about before bedtime can influence what we dream about. The passage above suggests that you focus on the stars. It’s a way to leave behind your earthly limitations and rise above any challenges or problems you may be dealing with.
Before you head off to other realms, here’s a little trick you can try. If you have a pressing issue you need to deal with, try writing your problem down on a piece of paper and then under that problem, list all the possible solutions you can think of. Now put this paper in a drawer and forget about it. I’ve done this numerous times before bed and it’s amazing how many times I wake up in the morning with a new idea or possible solution. Just make sure you release all those thoughts and get your focus on the stars before you fall asleep!
You may get an answer overnight or it may take several nights, but rest assured the Universe is working to help you find a solution. This method of writing things down, and then releasing them to a higher power can be used before. Meditation as well. You want all those thoughts out of your head so your mind is clear and quiet while you meditate.
Today, science is just starting to explore the idea that all things are connected by a field of energy. In the last couple of decades, a series of scientific experiments have actually revealed dramatic evidence of a web of energy. It suggests that all things may be connected through this energy field. Even when we are personally unaware of it, we are constantly interacting with the energy of everything around us and we are shaping our world with every thought and feeling, because our mind and body are not truly separate from the environment.
This new evidence supports the idea that each of us has the power to speak directly to the Divine force that connects all of creation.
If you would like to learn more about this amazing web of energy that links us all together, I recommend reading The Divine Matrix by Gregg Braden. He does a wonderful job of blending all the ancient teachings and traditions on this subject with the new scientific research that is being done today.
