The Spring Equinox arrives between March 20-23 in the Northern Hemisphere or between September 20-23 in the Southern Hemisphere. If you live in the Southern Hemisphere visit the Mabon sabbat page for celebrating the current Autumn season in your area.
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, spring is here. Welcome the season by planting seeds in small clay pots and/or start a magical herb garden.
Your small potted herbs can be grown indoors. Plants like lavender, sage or lemon balm can send their fragrance through your home, reminding you that this is the time when life renews itself. Living plants help us stay connected with nature. Herbs are especially nice to start growing now and they will share their miraculous energies with you in the months ahead when you add them to your cooking.
It’s a wonderful time of year to take long walks outdoors and appreciate the magic of nature and our Mother Earth. And don’t be surprised if she decides to bless you with a small treasure while you are on your walk!
A fun spring activity for children is to pick daffodils. Let each child select their favorite flower, put it in a small vase and then add a few drops of food coloring to the water in the vase. Over the next few hours and days as the daffodil drinks the water, color begins to accumulate at the outer edge of each petal. This activity is pure magic to children!
